‘Rondo’ Rosé 2016
Made from Australia’s only planting of Rondinella grapes, which originate in the Valpolicella region of Italy.
TASTING NOTES
FREEMAN RONDO ROSÉ 2016 is pale salmony pink, a dry textural savoury style with beguiling berry aromas, spice and a refreshing lingering palate (100% Rondinella). A delicious aperitif.
WINEMAKING
Meaning ‘little swallow’ in Italian, Rondinella is a versatile and generous bearing variety that relishes its adopted NSW Hilltops home where at sunset swallows swoop over the vines that give this wine its name.
Typically harvested in late April, these unique grapes undergo a long, slow, even maturation, the key to the wine’s fresh persistent flavours.
Made using the classic saignée method, draining the juice after a short time in contact with the grape skins, this palest pink, spicy rosé displays a dry creamy palate with refreshing minerality balanced by soft tannins.
‘The quintessential food rosé
made from the Valpolicella grape Rondinella grown in a relatively cool corner of NSW…’
JANCIS ROBINSON MW, FINANCIAL TIMES
‘A classic (and good value) example of the pale, dry style now in vogue.’
